Learning meets Technology @ PRACEPRACE has provided a range of literacy and numeracy programs through State and Federal funding since 1993. The organisation has also gained a national and international presence within the field through the development and distribution of a range of literacy resources, paper based and online learning materials. ContextOne day in early 1994, the Manager brought in her Macintosh from home, seeing that the office needed a computer to keep up with the business, and the times, and the files .. Not long after that we started teaching all sorts of beginner computer classes in collaboration with Preston Neighbourhood House (PNH). One of those classes was Literacy and Computers, where first one teacher, then others, began to discover the challenges of teaching literacy in the computer room - the panic, the endless calls for attention, the high stress, the need to deal at once with the needs of both breaking-down-machines and confused, distressed people. Over the years, more and more teachers at PRACE have begun to use the computer room for their teaching – now all the staff are able to make some use of technology.
